Where is Live Wires located?

          Our office is in the Roosevelt/Green Lake area of Seattle, Washington.

 

What are your business hours?

          We answer telephones from 9 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday during the fall and winter months.  During the spring and summer months we often  answer the phones from 9:00 a.m. until 8 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. if we're feeling especially energetic.

 

May I come into your office and book in person?

          No, we have a home office and are probably in front of the computers in casual dress, bad hair and without make-up.  Therefore all communication is done by phone and email to spare your visual sensibilities.

 

Is there anything I should know about Live Wires' history and reputation?

          Yes, you should know that Live Wires has been in business since October, 1981 and has a very good reputation for doing excellent work and for being very conscientious about client and performer relationships.

 

If I need to communicate with you after I book, how do I best contact you?

          If you try to reach us after business hours and just get the voicemail, leave a message and we will return your call.  Email is most effective because we are constantly checking our  feedback@live-wires.com email before and after business hours.

 

If I request a specific performer for a booking, will that request be honored?

          Yes, of course.  In the event we would need to substitute another performer due to illness, injury, schedule conflicts or whatever, we would contact you for prior approval of that substitution.

 

Are the photos of the performers up-to-date and accurate?

          The photos range in age from five years to several weeks.  Some performers may have changed hair color or lost or gained a little weight, but they are generally accurate.  But photos are still only photos--some people look better in person and some people do not look as good.  It so often depends on how photogenic they are and the quality of the photograph itself.

 

May I request that a performer arrive at a specific, on-the-dot time?

          If your event agenda necessitates a very specific performance time, you may certainly book the performer to begin at a specific time, i.e., 6:10 p.m.   If you have any flexibility on performance time, however, we would prefer to book the performer in 30-minute arrival time increments, i.e., 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Such an arrival time window precludes significant amounts of  stress for both the performer and the client.

 

Will the performer call me to confirm the booking?

          The performer does not need to place a confirmation call to you---the booking is confirmed when you book.  However, the performer may call you for any needed clarification of booking details and for verbatim directions to the venue.  Singing and comic roasting performers call you to get background details on the recipient, but do not expect their call until a day or so before the booking.  If they get the details too far in advance, it can be harder for them to keep them straight, confusing "Fred" with "Roberta."

 

What if the performer does not show up?  I have heard horror stories about other companies . . .

          WE SHOW UP!  Absent being hit by a truck or going into emergency labor, we show up!  That is why we are still here after 20 years and the other companies have gone out of business or are trying to get their acts together under new management.

 

Are there any additional charges than the prices quoted on the website?

          There are additional charges for travel outside of the core Seattle area, for downtown parking, for performance times prior to 9:00 a.m. and after 2:00 a.m., for customized songs that include input from the client,  for singers to learn new songs with less than two weeks notice and for singing and roasting performers to perform more than one roast.  There are also additional charges for balloons, candy, flowers and gifts.  Those charges will be specifically quoted at time of booking.

 

What payment methods do you accept?

          We always accept  cash, Money Order, Visa/MasterCard and Discover;  we only accept  checks from previous clients and corporate clients.

 

Are the characters depicted on the website the only ones you perform?

           We perform a multitude of characters, only some of which are depicted on the website.  We also will perform custom characters of your design, although you may incur additional costs of costume rental if the costume needed is not part of our wardrobe.

 

Are the performers depicted on the website the only ones you book?

          We book many other performers who are not yet on our website.  The site is an ongoing piece of work wherein we add more performers as quickly as we can get the work done.

 

Are you affiliated with Book-A-Comic and A Galloway Production?

          Both of those companies are affiliated with Live Wires.  Book-A-Comic books stand-up comics for private and corporate events.  A Galloway Production designs and produces entertainment for large events and is partnered with Elizabeth Pelham.

 

Why can't I book on line?

          The performers' schedules are often so complex that they often must be specifically consulted to determine availability.  We cannot ever foresee software that could accommodate that complexity.  Also, the booking process requires considerable information querying, the answers to some questions requiring a completely different set of queries.  Again, too complex.

 

Am I "allowed" to tip the performers?

          If you are so thoughtful and generous to tip performers extra money in appreciation of their talent, guts, charm, intelligence and hard work, you are not only appreciated by the peformers but we office staff also hold you in high esteem.

 

Okay, so if I am allowed to tip them, what is the proper amount?

          The proper amount is what you can comfortably afford.
