Live Wires Gallery of FRIENDLY ADVICE
This quartet brings to mind fond memories of the great vocal groups we
all loved to listen to . . . groups such as the Four Freshmen,
the Kingston Trio, the New Christy Minstrels and the Mills Brothers. But
unlike those fine artists, Friendly Advice sings a cappella, using their
voices as the only accompaniment and blending the sound impeccably. The
songs they sing are special as well, with ballads that will put a tear
in your eye, up-tunes to get your toes tapping and patriotic songs that
will make your heart swell with pride. Their specialty is 40's,
50's, 60's, and 70's popular songs. A Christmas set and a few gospel
numbers round out their extensive repertoire.
Formed in 2001 they have already won the 2003 Evergreen District (Greater
Pacific Northwest) Barbershop Quartet Championship, the 2006 Evergreen
District Senior Quartet Championship and the 2007 International Senior
Quartet Championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Their credits range
from singing the national anthem for the Seattle Mariners to performing
in Finland, Sweden, New Zealand and most recently Russia.
