RUBY SLIPPERS
Ruby Slippers is a romantic dance band that deftly mixes swing, waltz,
and blues!
Spend time dancing to the classic composers from the early 1930's to the
early '40's-the music of Cole Porter, Fats Waller, George Gershwin and
other American treasures from this fun and romantic era.
Band leader and dance pianist Julian Adamaitis, who began studying these
jazz standards as a child, has brought together an ensemble that includes
some of the top Northwest dance musicians:
Well-known swing fiddler Paul Elliott of Cat Walk, Janet Rayor, the
sultry vocalist of French cabaret band, Rouge, upright bass-player Tony
Mates of Cayenne Cajun Band sharing vocals, and Dave Bartley, the virtuoso
guitarist from KGB and Pangeos.
Surprise hit of 2003's Northwest Folklife Festival, Ruby Slippers has
played repeatedly for Living Traditions, Leif Erickson Hall, Sonny Newman's
Dance Hall, Waltz Etcetera, Shoreline Center, and various private events.
